^ Shelter Funding

The first round of Shelter Funding was awarded to MSF-B for the translation into French of Transitional Settlement: Displaced Populations (Oxfam, 2005).

A limited fund for collaborative projects between Shelter Meeting participant organisations. Projects are identified at Shelter Meeting by Shelter Meeting participant organisations, which agree to participate in project management, review at subsequent Shelter Meetings, or collaborate with field testing. The funded projects promote development and agreement of operational good practice, policy, and the consistent use of appropriate shelter and shelter NFIs.

Seed funding for a series of Shelter Funding projects has been provided by DFID CHAD until 2009. The fund is managed by Shelter Centre and is consistent with DFID Conflict and Humanitarian Fund protocols. Additions to the fund can be made by other donors.

Eligibility
Shelter Funding is open to any not-for-profit organisation or network that specialises in preventing and addressing the impact of conflict, and/or the impact of natural disasters and human insecurity on poor people, whose work meets the priorities outlined in 2 below. Eligible organisations include UN bodies, International Organisations (IOs), International and Local Non-Governmental Organisations (INGOs and LNGOs), and Community-Based Organisations (CBOs). Academic institutions and independent not-for-profit research groups may only apply as part of a network involving eligible organisations.

  5. has a clearly stated purpose and the necessary skills and experience to manage its inputs to the objectives outlined
  6. has the capability to account properly for the total project costs

Participant organisations of the Shelter Meeting with ideas or proposals for projects should email info@sheltercentre.org.
