^ Shelter Meeting

Shelter Meeting offers a forum for all stakeholders to:

• improve coordination at field and headquarter levels through supporting, understanding between organisations and individuals (e.g. Humanitarian Response Review, Graham Saunders)
• share understandings of ongoing and recent transitional settlement and shelter responses (e.g. the Tsunami response, CRS).
• identify and share good practice (e.g. Camp Management Toolkit, NRC)
• support the appropriate and consistent use of shelter and shelter NFI materials (e.g. Shelter NFIs, MSF)
• the peer review of the Shelter Centre programme 2006 - 20011 (e.g. Scope for Shelter after Disaster Guidelines revision, Shelter Centre)

The development and continuation of Shelter Meeting will comprise:

• expanded sectoral representation
• two day meetings every six months in Geneva
• hosting by a major organisation/donor (previous hosts include: ICRC, MSF-B, SDC-HA, UNDP/BCPR, UN-Habitat, UN/OCHA)
• the possible addition of free shelter training for Shelter Meeting participants
• the possible addition of other associated events, such as offering material suppliers and innovators an opportunity to present at a parallel venue

Shelter Meeting is open to stakeholders involved in the transitional settlement and shelter of populations affected by natural disaster and conflict. Organisations and representatives wishing to attend Shelter Meeting should email meeting@sheltercentre.org.
